The Birth of a Parent: Navigating the Transition to Parenthood
Most classes and books for expectant and new parents focus on pregnancy, childbirth, and baby care, but not on how life may change when you become a parent and how those changes can make you feel. While parenthood can be a wonderful experience, it can also be very challenging at times.

This webinar is for men and women who are interested in learning how their lives may change when they become parents and how to manage those changes. The principles and strategies discussed derive directly from Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), an evidence-based, time-limited treatment that has been shown to be effective in treating mood disorders related to pregnancy.

Topics addressed include:
• How becoming a parent affects how one thinks and feels about oneself
• The potential impact of becoming a parents on relationship with partners
• Strategies for effectively managing the transition to parenthood
• Depression in men and women during the postpartum period
